Process Overview

  2. Hot Fixes screen

Introduction

The timing of the application of group settings needs to be understood before using the Hotfix tab. Every night at midnight, the LabTech server runs a procedure that updates all the approved hotfixes on the computers that are in the group. After this occurs, if you go to the computers through the Computer Management screen, you will see the the aproved column on the Hotfix tab set to install. Now that they are approved, that computer will check every 30 minutes during the patch window set in the Hotfix Template Settings and install the required patches.

Hotfixes are applied to Groups through Templates or set globally from the Dashboard under the Configuration Hotfix tab. Hotfixes can be viewed per computer from the Computer Management screen within the Hotfix tab. See the references below for hotfix approval and removal operations.

HotFixes

Right-click and select Create Script to create a deployment script for the selected hotfix.

NOTE: This is useful if you are not using LabTech for patch management and still want to make sure a particular patch is deployed. Once the Create Script option is selected and the Script Created window is displayed, you can deploy the specified hotfix to any computer, location or client in your system by selecting the target object and navigating to Scripts > Software > Patches > KB000001 (replacing 000001 with the KB number of your Hotfix.)

HotFixes Screen

  • KB Article - The knowledge base article pertaining to the hotfix.
    • Right-click to read the Microsoft Hotfix Article.
  • Category - The type of hotfix - Critical Updates, Service Packs, etc..
  • Operating System - The Opertating System this hotfix is for.
  • HotFix - A description of the hotfix.
